Framing Carpenter – 1st Year Learner

Silver Carpentry (1997) Limited is now hiring Framing Carpenters – First Year (NOC: 7271).

REQUIREMENTS:

– at least six months experience as a framing carpenter

– Good physical stamina to perform work

– Applicable safety training is an asset, but training available

– Own steel toed safety boots

– Ability to work at heights in sometimes noisy environment

– Valid driver’s license a definite asset

– Safety certifications an asset, but training available.

DUTIES:

– Measure, cut, shape assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials to build the frame structure of residential homes

– Install floor beams

– Lay sub-flooring and erect walls and roof systems

– Determine specifications and calculate requirements

– Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code

– Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Permanent, Full Time between 32 and 44 hours per week,  daytime hours, some overtime and weekend work required

SALARY:

$32.28 per hour, union membership and dental/medical benefits through union

LOCATION:

Greater Toronto Area and outskirts,  various job sites, residential new home construction, custom homes and some renovations
