Job Description:

Full Day Childcare Centre Licensed for care of children 0 months to 5 years of age.

Job duties:
– Lead indoor and outdoor activities; read stories; teach songs and dances
– Encourage children to actively join in various activities and express their creativity through them
-Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
-Guide and assist children during lunch, snack, nap and bathroom times
-Observe children for signs of problems in their behavior or progress and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
-Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
-Knowledge of Daycare Services Act and Licensing Regulations
-Establish guidelines for behavior
-Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
-Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
-Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers; attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
-Order supplies and equipment; maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties

Requirements:
-Education: A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in early childhood education is a must
-Valid ECE license is needed in accordance with B.C. Licensing Regulations
-Satisfactory criminal record check is required
-Valid First Aid certificate
-Experience: Experience an asset
-Excellent communication skills with staff, children and parents

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills
Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings; Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers; Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors

Additional Skills
Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers; Order supplies and equipment; Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties; Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records; Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children; Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours; Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants

Salary: $19.00 CAD hourly (plus additional BC Government wage enhancement)
– The employee is expected to work for 40 hours a week.
– The employee is expected to work from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and will be given half an hour lunch break (unpaid).
