Job Description:

Full Day Childcare Centre Licensed for care of Children 12 months to 3 years of age.

-This position is to work with children ages: 12 months – 36 months

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM [40 hours a week, 30 minutes lunch break-unpaid]

Job duties:

-Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children

-Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity

-Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

-Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor

-Knowledge of Daycare Services Act

-Knowledge of licensing regulations

-Establish guidelines for behaviour

-Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children

-Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children

-Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members

-Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers

-Order supplies and equipment

-Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties

-Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children

 

Specific Job Duties Associated with this Position:

-Plan and develop programs and activities suitable for children ages between 1 to 3 years old

-Design and create learning programs to meet children’s physical, intellectual, social, cultural, creative and emotional needs

-Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children

-Maintain and update individual record of children handled taking note of the program’s positive and negative results

 

Requirements:

– Experience highly required

– Education: College diploma and Bachelor's degree in early childhood education is appreciated

– Valid ECE license is required

– Current First Aid Certificate and Criminal Record Check Required

– Enthusiastic with children

– Well organized

– Excellent and effective communication skills in verbal and written

– Strong work ethic

 

Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills

Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings which are held on weekly and monthly basis; Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers; Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors

 

Salary:

$17.10 – $19.00 CAD hourly
