AME is looking for someone who is motivated, talented, and a committed team member to join us. Applicants should be a well-experienced draftsperson with an excellent track record – technically, and in project delivery and implementation and have considerable experience in mechanical and/or architectural drafts. A draftsperson's key duty is to create drawings, using CADD, which are infused with any technical details are appropriate to the project along with strong communication and coordination skills. Creative thinking, a proactive attitude, good communication, organizational, and report writing skills are essential to this role.

Salary: $32.50 per hour for 30-40 hours per week

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time, Day, Weekend

Start date: As soon as possible

Job requirements

  Languages: English

  Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.

                  Preferred field of study – Mechanical engineering, Architectural Engineering, Engineering (General), Architecture related

  Experience: 2 to 3 years

  Computer and Technology Knowledge: AutoCAD, Computer-aided design (CAD), Autodesk REVIT, MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Spreadsheet.

  Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Drafting Trade Certification; Drafting Trade Certification; AutoCAD Certification would be asset.

  Area of Specialization: Mechanical and Architectural

  Type of Drafting: Presentation drawings, Free-hand drafting, Detailing drafting.

Main Duties:

  • Ability to read and interpret Mechanical drawings (blueprints) and other construction documents
  • Develop and prepare mechanical designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets and other data
  • Designing building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, building controls
  • Integrate and collaborate with our current engineering team for project coordination
  • Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations
  • Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
  • Preparation of contract drawings using AutoCAD
  • Examine drawings for conformity to specifications/design data and errors
  • Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates
  • Prepare contracts and tender
  • Supervise and train other drafting personnel.
  • System design calculations, equipment selection
  • Incorporate sustainable design strategies
  • Computer building simulation modeling
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients, consultants and vendors
  • Write technical reports
