About Working on a “Floatel” 

LandSea will provide workforce catering and accommodation services for guests onboard the MV Isabelle, a 650-passenger “Floatel.” The Floatel will be permanently docked in Squamish, B.C. and is estimated to operate for up to three years.  
 

At work, the crew is provided with accommodation, full meals, and WIFI, and can access health/gym facilities when off work. We provide partial uniforms and help with the travel/reservations as needed to and from locations. Excellent Health and Wellness benefits are being offered. 

 

About the Opportunity 

We have 18 openings for Cooks in the Kitchen. Applicants must have 1 year to less than 2 years of cooking experience. Must be able to work long shifts, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.  Available to work multiple rotations. Must have good verbal and written communication skills (read, write, and speak English). Meticulous attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills. Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently, and as a team player who supports, motivates, and encourages others.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Follow all recipes and practice portion control to prepare, garnish, and present ordered items. 
  • Prepare all sorts of appetizers and main courses as per the menu.
  • Accept special requests from customers for menu items and prepare food.
  • Work as a team and prepare food orders within time limits.
  • Instruct kitchen assistants and helpers.
  • Maintain proper and adequate kitchen/station set-up daily. This includes requisitioning and stocking all required food and condiments.
  • Handle, store and rotate all products properly.
  • Responsible for set-up, regular maintenance, cleaning, and breakdown of machinery and equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing all perishables daily to ensure product quality.
  • Return all items used during the shift to the proper place, and clean and organize all work and storage areas.

Physical Requirements (must be physically fit to perform the following)  

Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.  

Repeat the same movements, including fast, repetitive movements of fingers, hands, and wrists.  

Use muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs.  

Use hands to handle objects and tools.  

Willingness to travel often. 

 

Certifications and Other Requirements 

All crew members onboard the MV Isabelle must have the minimum marine safety (Seafarers) certifications required by Transport Canada for the specific job. 

MED STCW Basic Safety Training

Marine Basic First Aid

MED STCW Survival Craft

Passenger Safety Management

Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test before hiring and potential random tests throughout employment with prior notice. 

WHMIS 2015 

Valid Government-issued Identification
