Responsibilities
Tasks

1. Load, unload and transport construction materials
2. Operate mobile and tower cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials
3. Clean and lubricate cranes
4. Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades
5. Operate pile driving cranes to drive pilings into earth to provide support for buildings and other structures
6. Instruct apprentices
7. Mix, pour and spread materials
8. Operate cranes equipped with dredging attachments to dredge waterways and other areas
9. Assist heavy equipment operators
10. Assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction
11. Level earth to fine grade specifications
12. Pave and rake asphalt
13. Assist in demolishing buildings
14. Clean and pile salvaged materials
15. Perform pre-operational inspection, and calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting
16. Perform routine maintenance work
17. Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
18. Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
19. Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
20. Direct traffic at or near construction sites
