At this time, we are seeking an enthusiastic automotive mechanic helper who is eager to learn, as we are willing to train. A graduate of a secondary (high) school is preferred.

THE ENCUMBERMENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:

·     Move tools, equipment and other materials

·     Perform miscellaneous labouring activities to help tradespersons, apprentices and other workers as directed

·     Clean machines and immediate work areas

·     Apply primers and repaint surfaces

·     File, grind and sand body surfaces to be repaired

·     Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills and bolt or weld replacement parts into place

·     Hammer out dents, buckles and defects using blocks and hammers

·     Professionalism in customer service

·     Mix paint, blend and match colors

·     Repair or replace damaged windows, windshields and sunroofs

·     Repair or replace interior components

·     Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting

·     Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment

·     Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams

·     Clean and maintain workspace

·     Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling

The worksite environment is noisy, dusty and has odours

The work setting is a shop/garage, located in a rural area

Transportation/travel information and other benefits – parking is available and public transportation is available, transportation is provided by the employer, able to drive manual transmission vehicle and have valid driver’s licence; relocation costs not covered by employer.

Work conditions and physical capabilities – the position is physically demanding, a combination of sitting, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling; the incumbent will need to undertake a large workload, work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, have attention to details and should be able to stand for extended periods; should be able to handle up to 30 lbs weight.

A basic security clearance is required.

Own tools/equipment – steel-toed safety boots, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses/goggles and mask

Personal suitability – The incumbent is expected to be dependable, reliable and flexible, be able to work under pressure, endure heavy work load, with excellent oral communication skills, demonstrate initiative, be a team player, accurate and client focused.   

Hours and Wages

This is a permanent, full-time position, 35 hours per week during regular business hours between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with possible overtime and weekends to meet our customers’ needs.  The hourly wage is $22.00.
