GULF LINE GROUP LTD., located at 470 Old Newbury Lane, Cambridge, ON N3H5P5 is hiring LONG HAUL TRUCK DRIVERS.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
No experience required, will train
Reasonable knowledge of English
Valid passport, basic security clearance, driving record check (abstract)
Effective interpersonal skills, flexible, organized, reliable, team player
The job is repetitive, physically demanding and requires long periods of sitting while driving
Be able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Commit to performing all work in a safe manner
Willing to travel cross-border, for extended periods, internationally, and travel overnight
Valid AZ class license
Be able to operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and/or other navigation equipment
Be able to work independently and with minimal supervision
Be familiar with Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), driver logbook, bill of lading, trip reports
Professionalism in customer service
JOB DESCRIPTION
Operate a tractor-trailer to transport goods and materials
Load and unload goods
Perform preventive maintenance
Perform brake adjustments
Pay and receive payments for goods
May be required to perform emergency roadside repairs
Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain driver logbooks
Receive and relay information to central dispatch, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers
Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations
Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
TERMS
This is an immediate, permanent, full-time position – 40.00 hours per week, with $24.04 per hour pay. The driver needs to be available to work mornings, early mornings, days, evenings, and/or weekends, may be required to work overtime, and will be required to drive long-haul, provincial/territorial, international and regional destinations.
