SALARY RANGE: $93,600 – $110,000

West Crane Rentals & Construction (WCR) Ltd. Is a new company in the crane rental and operations field. We own a large fleet of cranes, after refurbishment, testing and certification, we will begin our operations to service Western Canada.
JOB SUMMARY
West Crane Rentals (WCR) is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Tower Crane Electrician to join our growing team. The Crane Electrician is responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling and maintaining primarily Raimondi Tower cranes among other crane manufacturers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned from time to time)
- Performs on-site electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic troubleshooting to determine the root cause of equipment malfunction and establish the necessary repairs utilizing visual inspection, test procedures, and appropriate test equipment.
- Conducts inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric tower cranes and hoists at varied customer locations
- Informs and consults Supervisor or Manager of any unsafe practices performed or witnessed.
- Adjusts equipment and performs repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems with the approved certified parts or systems.
- Ensures general post-repair audit is performed prior to completion of work; responsible for documenting that all required safety features are functional or reports deficiencies
- Advises customers of all repair and safety-related issues and provides recommendations that will assist the customer with improving their safety practices and productivity. Determine items requiring quotation.
- Responsible for identifying, structuring and creating a preventative maintenance program (PM)
- Creates and maintains Crane information binders that outline all requirements of electrical systems and parts.
- Periodically checks limit switches and safety systems to evaluate and calibrate their performance as well as performing required adjustment after each erection, configuration, alteration and rope replacement.
- Ensures that work is performed safely and in accordance with HSE policies, procedures, and relevant Occupational Health and Safety Legislation. Follows all established safety rules and procedures, including those established by the customer.
- Comprehensively reports for all the following (but not limited to); inventory, order tracking, deliveries, schedules, purchase orders, repairs, repair hours, safety reporting/documentation, and training requirements for Erectors, Technicians and operators.
- Maintains supply of forms, literature, inventory and miscellaneous materials in the service vehicle.
- Be available “on call” as part of service office rotation and provide after-hours service, as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 8-10+ years of solid experience with tower crane installations, repair and maintenance
- Should have either previous crane experience or strong motor control and panel experience to be considered.
- Red Seal Certification as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician / Mechanic is an asset
- Preferable to have experience working and overhauling Raimondi tower cranes
- In-depth Electrical skills with the ability of Fault-finding and troubleshooting as well as reading schematics
- Ability to work at height and around heavy equipment
- Have read, understood, and applied the contents of all CSA, OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, HMI, and other codes or regulations pertaining to our industry. Refresh and update knowledge periodically as required
- Must have WHMIS and work in Height certificates
- PLC programming experience is an asset.
- Must have and maintain a good driving record, including a valid driver’s license.
