Senior caregiver

I am seeking a compassionate and experienced Senior Caregiver to provide dedicated care for a senior lady (85+ years old) in Burnaby, BC. This is a full-time position at 30 hours per week (flexible scheduling options), with potential for a live-in arrangement in the future if necessary.

 

Required Qualifications:

Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese (essential) and familiar with Chinese culture

Minimum 2 years of senior care experience

Medical training or personal care degree/certification, 

Knowledge of Chinese therapeutic massage techniques and understanding of TCM principles for elderly care and wellness

Eligibility to work in Canada

Clean criminal record check

Professional/former employer references

Physical capability to assist with transfers and mobility

Knowledge of Asian cuisine preparation

Experience with age-related conditions

 

Key Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive personal care, including senior exercise, hygiene assistance, and mobility support

Perform therapeutic massage and traditional Chinese wellness practices

Assist during exercise/physical therapy sessions and medical appointments

Prepare nutritious, culturally appropriate meals

Monitor and record medication administration

Maintain detailed daily care logs and health condition reports

Implement proper hygiene and infection control protocols

Offer meaningful companionship and emotional support

Collaborate with healthcare professionals as needed

Follow emergency response protocols and maintain emergency contact procedures

 

Work Environment: 

Private residence in Burnaby (near Metrotown area)

Independent work setting with professional healthcare team coordination

Clean, organized, and safety-focused environment

No overnight shifts required at this time

 

Compensation Package:

Hourly rate: $18-25

WorkSafeBC coverage

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to senior care. Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Chinese customs are essential for this position.
