Description
Continuing Care Assistants assist nurses, hospital staff and physicians in the basic care of patients.
Specific Skills
Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse, Weigh, lift, turn and position patients, Supervise patients' exercise routines, Administer suppositories, colonic irrigations and enemas, Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher, Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving and sterilizing operative areas, Accompany patients on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to patient care and comfort.
Additional Skills
Supply and empty bed pans, serve meal trays and feed patients, Deliver messages, reports, requisitions and specimens between departments, Make beds and maintain patients' rooms, Maintain inventory of supplies, Transport patients between care facilities, Assist with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, maintaining and repairing equipment, and assembling, setting-up and operating job-related equipment

Job Requirements:
Continuing Care Assistant Certification (CCA), Home Support Worker (HSW), Personal Support Worker (PSW), Home Health Provider (HHP) or Home Health Aid (HHA) certification from NS
Nurses; retired, non-active license, who are in good standing with their college or Internationally educated nurses
Students in health care programs such as nursing, CCA, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, respiratory therapy etc. will also be considered
Completion of a Standard First Aid and CPR C upon arrival in Canada
For international candidates, after work permit approval and arrival in Canada, the applicant must obtain a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle
Employment conditions:
Day – 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Evening – 2:00PM – 10:00 PM
Night – 7:00PM – 7:00 AM
