Position: Registered Early Childhood Educator

Duration/Type: Permanent/Full Time

Location: 1450 Queen Street West, Brampton, ON, L6X 0B2

Offered Salary: $20.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to all applicable Federal and
Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.

Other Benefits: Optional group insurance, medical benefits including dental and vision care

Vacation: 4% of the gross salary

Hours of Work: 35.0-40.0 hours a week; Overtime applicable at the rate of 1.5 after 44 hours of work per week

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
• Develop and implement child-care programs for the organization to support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of the children
• Provide a quality caring and supportive childcare program and address unique child care needs, meeting all regulatory standards required by federal, provincial and municipal governments.
• Responsible for the constant supervision, safety and well-being of the children
• Plan, carry out, and assess developmental activities that support & promote the physical, mental, emotional and social development of children
• Plan environments and experiences that support intellectual, physical, social and emotional development and learning through play, exploration and inquiry
• Provide a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
• Observe the behavior of the children and discuss their abilities, interests & needs with their parents and other staff members
• Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions & comments that extend dialogues
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

Specific Job Requirements
• Completion of a college program in early childhood education required
• Membership and Licensing by a provincial or territorial association for early childhood educators (ECE) is required
• First aid and CPR certificate required
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a registered early childhood educator (R.E.C.E.) required
