Job Requirements:

Languages

• English or French

Education

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

Experience

• 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as mechanic press operator or related field.

Duties:

• Operate gas or oil fired furnace to heat metal to proper temperatures prior to forging,
• Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment
• Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications
• Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines,
• Troubleshoot, perform corrective action or minor repairs
• Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist
• Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions
•  Document work completed
• Build staging or erect scaffolding for heavy metalworking jobs
• Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products
• Remove metal pieces from furnace when colour or metal indicates proper forging temperature
• Position heated or cooled metal pieces on die of press or other forging machinery,
• Position and adjust dies on anvil of forging machinery
• Place metal pieces in furnace
• Operate machines or equipment which weld, solder, bolt, screw or rivet metal parts together
• Operate presses or other forging machines to perform hot or cold forging to shape or form metal
