Live-in Caregiver – Seniors

One (1) full-time position for 30 hours a week at $18.25/hr, Wednesday to Sunday from 5 PM – 11:30 PM.  This is a live-in position.  Public Transportation available.  Urban environment.  Duties include:  administering medications, assisting with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene, assisting with regular exercise (e.g. walking), assumes full responsibility of the household in the absence of the householder, launders clothing and linens, performs light housekeeping and cleaning duties, provides companionship and personal care, prepares and serves nutritious meals.  Must be able to handle weight of 61 – 80 kgs (133-176 lbs)

Education Level:

A certificate in caregiving/home care or equivalent experience.

Required Skills

Experience of 2 to less than 3 years caring for people with Alzheimers.  Physical capabilities include bending, crouching, kneeling, a combination of sitting, standing for extended periods, and working under pressure.

Additional Skills

Personal suitability assets include punctuality, a client focus, patience and compassionship, and excellent interprsonal and oral communication skills.  Must be flexible and show initiative and good judgement.  Must be organized and reliable.   CPR and First Aid certificates required.  criminality check, immunization record, and a vulnerable sector check also required.
