Position: Jr. Sous Chef

Number of job vacancies: 1

Working Hours: 40hrs per week, 5 days a week

Wage$17.50-$19.50 per hour

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Benefits: 4% vacation pay from gross salary

St. Augustine’s is a casual spot on the drive with 60+ taps. Since our inception, we’ve built relationships with the leaders in the microbrew industry and we offer some of the best beers made in North America.

 

Main duties

  • Cook all items on the menu or delegating the cooking to kitchen staff
  • Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
  • Supervise and train the kitchen staff
  • Daily checks on quality of food prep, tasting food and ensuring proper preventive measure in place
  • Contribute to menu planning with the senior Chefs
  • Ensure that the kitchen is kept in tidy manner in compliance with health and regulations
  • Work directly with the team, managing their daily tasks, delegating, and assisting during operations as required
  • Ensure compliance with and training for health and safety regulations, sanitary practices for food handling, safe equipment use, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and other areas
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time

Requirements/Education

  • Completion of secondary school is required

          At least 2~3 years of work experience in commercial food preparation

  • Supervisory experience is an asset
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Be able to work under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Time management and decision-making skills are required
