Industrial mechanic and millwright (NOC-72400)

Omnipet Nutrition Inc. is looking for an experienced Industrial Mechanic or millwright personnel for their pet food processing plant located in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. Industrial Mechanic or millwright is a skilled certified tradesperson who dismantles, installs, repairs, reassembles, and maintains processing equipment in industrial plants. You Must have enhanced knowledge and hands on experience in process equipment including forklifts, robotic arms, pallet wrappers, heat tunnels, motors, fans, VFDs, common types of conveyors, welding, reading blueprints, computers, Packaging lines, weighing systems, extruder, cooking chambers, grinders, batching systems, mixers, scales, pneumatic conveying lines, dust filtering systems, etc. 

Your commitment will be to work closely with other team members, shift supervisors and report directly to the maintenance manager. Effective communication, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making are the key skills required for this position.

 

Main duties

  • Read blueprints, fire/safety evacuation plans, company policies, special instructions to determine work procedures
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions and resolve urgent equipment issues immediately.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance tasks as prescribed by the work orders generated by the program.
  • Ensure all equipment/machineries are properly working, adequately maintained, up to the safety standard and are according to the specifications including but not limited to forklifts, robotic arms, pallet wrappers, heat tunnels, motors, fans, VFDs, conveyors, dispenser, extruder, cooking chambers, grinder, batching system, batch mixers, pneumatic conveying lines, dust filtering systems, etc. 
  • Lockout tag out procedures must be followed prior to the work is being performed on energised equipment
  • Install, align, dismantle, replace or repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as robotic arms,  heat tunnels, motors, fans, VFDs, common types of conveyors, Packaging lines, dispenser, extruder, cooking chambers, grinder, batch mixers, pneumatic conveying lines, dust filtering systems according to the layout plans using hand and power tools
  • Operate forklift,  welding equipment and other power or hand held tools to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair
  • Ensure the area is left clean and all sanitation procedures must be followed once maintenance and repair work is completed.

Employment requirements

  • Completion of secondary school and training courses or a vocational program is usually required.
  • Completion of a three- to four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over five years of work experience and industry courses in industrial machinery repair or millwrighting is usually required
  • Red Seal endorsement or equivalent certification may assist but not mandatory
  • More than 10 years of hands-on related work in an industrial setting.

Terms of Employment: This position is full-time (40 hours per week), Day shift 7am to 3pm, may involve afternoon coverage later 3pm – 11pm. May require overtime
Language: Knowledge of the English language is required
Wages: $30-$40per hour depends on the experience (Annual salary Approximately $62, 400-$83, 200)

Education: Completion of secondary school and training courses or a vocational program or a three- to four-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over five years of work experience
Experience: Must have at least 10 years of experience in a related maintenance environment or a commination of apprenticeship program and hands on experience 

Preference will be given to Canadian Citizens and Permanent residence
