Position: Health Care Assistants (NOC33102) who will provide the support to enhance the lives of residents and to support the care team in their duties.

Language- English

Wage- $25.00 hourly

Location: Courtenay.



Job Duties:

• Porting of residents to dining room and/ or back to their room and preparing dining tables.

• Plating of meals, including trays for residents staying in their room.

• Completes inventory and stocking/restocking supplies.

• Assists with daily residents’ temperature checks, blood pressure and pulse along with making beds.

• Answer call signals: answer phone in courteous manner, records and distributes all messages accurately.

• Responds to call bells during busy hours, engaging the support of the Care team as needed.

• Carry messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments and performs administrative tasks as required.

• Assisting with cleaning including disinfecting tubs, removing linen laundry, restocking supplies as needed, Bathe, dress, and groom patients.

• Completes basic maintenance as required (i.e., changes light bulbs, etc.), following the maintenance policy.

• Other duties as required/assigned by management and companionship to residents.

• Reports changes in functional capacity, mood or health status to the Community Manager or designate.

• Assisting with the set-up and maintenance of traction equipment, cleaning or sterilizing equipment, maintaining, and repairing equipment, and assembling, setting-up and operating job-related equipment.

• May transport patients between care facilities and capable of weighing, lifting, turning, and positioning patients.

• Supervise patients' exercise routines.

• Administer first aid in emergency situations.

• Transport patients in wheelchair or stretcher



Job Requirements:



Education

• Secondary School education is required.

• Degree/Diploma in Nursing OR Care Aide Diploma will be an asset.

• Food safe Certificate and First Aid Certificate will be an asset.



Experience

• Relevant work experience is an asset.

• On the Job-training will be provided.

• Preference will be given to those candidates who have worked with or currently working with seniors’ citizens and/or people with special needs example handicap/dementia.



Additional Requirements:

• Immunization Record and TB screen.
