Silver Carpentry (1997) Limited is now hiring Framing Carpenters – Learners.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Willingness to learn
• Some carpentry experience is an asset, but not mandatory
• Good physical stamina to be able to perform the work
• Applicable safety training is an asset, but training available
• Own steel toed safety boots
• Ability to work at heights in sometimes noisy environment
• Valid driver’s license is an asset

DUTIES involve being trained in the following tasks: 

• Lay sub-flooring and erect walls and roof systems
• Install floor beams
• Measure, cut, shape assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials to build the frame structure of residential homes
• Determine specifications and calculate requirements
• Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Permanent, Full Time between 30 and 44 hours per week,  daytime hours, some overtime and weekend work required

SALARY:

$33.73 per hour (first year learner) – $38.61 per hour (2nd year learner)

union membership and benefits through union, 10% vacation pay

LOCATION:

Greater Toronto Area and outskirts,  various job sites, residential new home construction, custom homes and some renovations
