Resposibilities
Tasks
Take care of infants and toddlers, including bathing, diapering, and feeding. They should also be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Other duties include storytelling; teaching songs; talking to children about local points of interest; assisting early childhood educators with record keeping; engaging children in activities like crafting; helping them learn proper eating habits as well as dressing and toilet habits; maintaining daycare equipment; observing children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems while preparing reports for parents/supervisors; assessing the abilities, interests, needs of children while discussing progress/problems with parents & other staff members; attending staff meetings to discuss progress & establishing/maintaining relationships with co-workers & service providers. Finally, they should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
