Job duties:

-Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children

-Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity

-Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

-Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisor

-Knowledge of Daycare Services Act

-Knowledge of licensing regulations

-Establish guidelines for behavior

-Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children

-Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children

-Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members

-Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers

-Order supplies and equipment

-Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties

-Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children



-Education: A bachelor's degree or college diploma in early childhood education is required

-Experience: Experience an asset

-Valid ECE license is required

-Satisfactory criminal record check is required

-Able to work independently

-Well developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication

-Valid First Aid certificate


Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills:

Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings; Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers; Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children; Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.


Salary and Work Schedule:

$20.00 CAD hourly (plus additional $4.00 CAD ECE wage enhancement) with a work schedule of 30-40 Hours per week, between 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, 6–8-hour(s) per day with a 1 hour lunch break (Unpaid) Monday-Friday.



After being employed for 12 months, the salary will increase $0.50 every 6 months

An annual vacation schedule will be during the center breaks

5 sick days per year

1 day during the Easter break

1 day during summer break and the Christmas break (1.5 weeks)

Coffee/tea & snacks

Paid conferences- covers over 12 hours professional development hours per year

Your 4% vacation pay will be paid on the last working day of each year

Your first Aid certificate will be paid on proof of completion
