We are now opened to hire a construction site superintendent to join our team.  All candidates require to speak English.  

 

Position responsibilities and duties:

 

As a construction site superintendent, your duties and responsibilities will include:

 

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
  • Daily supervision of all site operations, including management and maintenance of all regulated site safety policies
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, consultants, trade contractors, inspectors and regulatory agencies to prepare and execute project plans including coordination of site inspections and timely correction of any deficient work
  • Maintain effective labour relations through compliance with labour agreements and company policies
  • Assist Project Manager with initial set up of the construction site
  • Ensure construction industry standards are met and ensure high quality control in the effort to minimize deficiencies
  • Assist Project Mangers in the creation of site plans and procedures (i.e., scheduling and forecasting resources)
  • Provide resolution to project issues as they arise and communicate project issues in a timely manner to Project Manager (i.e., work scheduling conflicts, work interference, errors/discrepancies/omissions in Consultant’s design drawings, project deficiencies list, poor workmanship quality, etc.)
  • Prepare and submit construction project budget estimates
  • Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
  • Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors
  • Develop and implement quality control programs
  • Represent company on matters such as business services and union contracts negotiation
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients
  • Direct the purchase of building materials and land acquisitions
  • Hire and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate staff.

 

Required qualifications and experience 

 

–  University degree/College diploma or certificate in engineering or construction trade

  • Certificate in Project Management is a big asset
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a construction sector holding a supervising position 
  • Solid understanding of all construction trades and construction techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and field drawings
  • Up to date safety training including: WHMIS & First Aid
  • Excellent communication skills; experience managing sub-trades and suppliers
  • Ability to make timely and rational decisions under pressure
  • Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is required
