Nature of Employment: Full-time, Contract (24 Months)

Employment Duration: 24 Months, beginning as soon as possible.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: $100,500 per year (approximately CAD $48.31 per hour)

Benefits: 4% Vacation Pay

Job Summary:

Iqbal Foods is continuing to grow its supermarket presence across Ontario and is seeking a Construction Project Manager (Contract) to lead the end-to-end planning, development, and execution of its new supermarket location projects. The ideal candidate will contribute to the successful and timely delivery of Iqbal Foods’ current expansion project, which is directly aligned with a fixed 24-month scope and timeline. Accordingly, this is a time-limited, 24-month contract position that will conclude at the end of the project, with no extension or transition to a permanent role.

The ideal candidate will bring specialized expertise in construction project management, contract negotiation, budgeting, site planning, and quality control. The Construction Project Manager will also work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that all phases of development are delivered efficiently, within scope, and on schedule. As the primary liaison between Iqbal Foods, constructors, consultants, and regulatory authorities, the individual in this role will provide strategic oversight and coordination across the project lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate with Iqbal Food’s senior management, internal stakeholders and external project teams—including architects, engineers, and construction managers—to effectively manage project schedules, budgets, and overall project delivery from start to finish;
• Coordinate and oversee project scheduling, ensuring timelines are aligned with deliverables and regulatory standards, identifying risks, and adjusting plans to mitigate delays or disruptions;
• Prepare and manage construction project budgets, including the development of cost estimates, implementation of cost control strategies, and submission of financial forecasts and progress updates to senior leadership;
• Conduct thorough reviews of contract drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements, while executing quality control procedures to maintain high standards in design, construction, and finishing;
• Lead and coordinate the resolution of any project deficiencies to ensure timely completion and project integrity; and
• Manage real estate and development activities, including site selection, land acquisition, lease negotiations, feasibility studies, and navigating zoning, land use, and compliance;
• Draft contracts and collaborate with senior leadership to negotiate revisions, amendments, and addendums with external partners, consultants, and affiliates;
• Represent Iqbal Foods for commissioning processes involving external partners and third-party services related but not limited to negotiations for land use, building materials and zoning approvals;
• Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders—including internal teams, construction staff, property managers, and third-party developers;
• Coordinate with municipal officials to ensure that all development-phase commitments and regulatory requirements are properly implemented during construction;
• Hire, manage, and supervise subcontractors and site staff, ensuring performance aligns with project objectives, safety standards, and construction timelines;
• Conduct site visits and inspections to verify adherence to company specifications and compliance to regulatory requirements;
• Oversee project close-out by ensuring the successful handover of all operational documents, including warranties, drawings, maintenance agreements and equipment manuals to Iqbal Foods’ operations team; and
• Perform other duties as required to support successful project execution.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction or a related field, OR at least of seven (7) years of experience in the construction industry is required;
• Prior experience in a supervisory role related to construction project management, field supervision, site development, or property expansion is required;
• Prior work experience in commercial development will be considered a strong asset, but not required;
• Strong knowledge of structural design, surveys and construction methods is required;
• Professional designations, such as a Project Management Professional designation, will be considered an asset, but are not required;
• Must have strong communication skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams within a face-paced environment;
