We are now hiring Concrete Former Helpers/Skilled Labourer to join our skilled team.

Job Duties

  • Jobs include a variety of tasks from forming, framing, finishing, back framing, demo, removal, disposal, and various other tasks based on the needs of projects
  • Experience with insulated concrete forms (ICF) is an advantage
  • Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
  • Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
  • Assist tradespersons such as carpenters, bricklayers, cement finishers, roofers and glaziers in construction activities
  • Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
  • Assist in aligning pipes and perform related activities during oil and gas pipeline construction
  • Assist in drilling and blasting rock at construction sites
  • Assist miners in excavating and in setting up and operating various drills and other surface mining machinery
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications using rake and shovel
  • Assist in demolishing buildings using prying bars and other tools, and sort, clean and pile salvaged materials
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
  • Operate pneumatic hammers, vibrators and tampers as directed
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction such as mixers, compressors and pumps
  • Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants, and remove asbestos and other hazardous materials
  • Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites
  • Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Commercial Construction industry experience required
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
  • Comfort working in high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations
  • Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in concrete and masonry construction work
  • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (50 lbs.), walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
  • Climb to heights and conduct work with proper safety restraints
  • Read, write and speak English (Korean language is an asset)
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions in English
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

 

Safety Ticket Requirements:

  • CSTS
  • WHMIS (or included in CSTS)
  • Fall Protection
  • First Aid (Preferred)

 

Tool Requirements:

  • Steel Toe Boots (covering the ankle with a visible green triangle, no steel toe exposed or excessive wear/damage)
  • Hardhat (must be CSA Class B or ANSI approved with no drilled holes, deep scratches or defacing characteristics)
  • Hammer
  • Tape measure
  • High visibility vest
  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves
