Old Sun’s Lanzhou Noodles
We are a start-up restaurant looking for an experienced chef to join us in our endeavor to bring to the west GTA communities the authentic Lanzhou noodles–along with the varieties of bone broths, slow-simmered meats and side dishes that go perfectly with the hand-pulled noodles. We strive to do the right thing for our food, people and community by the sharing of authentic ethnic foods prepared in the traditional way with fresh, nutritious and delicious ingredients albeit quick served to suit the fast-paced modern city life.
What will your typical day look like?
As the chef, you will be sharing our passion about the creation of healthy, delicious ethnic foods. You will be working primarily with our head chef to prepare, cook and present the Lanzhou noodles to our patrons. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare, cook and present Lanzhou-style speciality foods, including hand-pulled noodles, broths, meats, and side dishes
- Contribute to management decisions by analyzing operating costs and other data and make constructive recommendations
- May prepare and cook food for special functions
- May create new recipes according to seasonal ingredients and food trends
- Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food,
- Supervise kitchen staff , help schedule, hire and dismiss staff
- Organize and maintain inventory
- Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory information
- Oversee the requisition of food and kitchen supplies
- Other tasks as may be required.
Terms of Employment: full-time, permanent.
You will be working for an average of 40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year.
Wages: $20.00 to $25.00 / hour
What’s in you? You are someone with:
- Minimum 2+ direct experience in Lanzhou style noodle dishes in commercial kitchen settings, including dough making, noodle pulling, broth and meat preparation, and side dishes from a variety of ingredients
- Ability to Supervise 3-4 people
- Manual dexterity, hand-eye co-ordination
- Attention to detail,
- Physical stamina, capable of standing for extended periods, with repetitive tasks
- Dependability, reliability and initiative are paramount to the position
- Sound Judgement with customer focus
- Ability and willingness for early morning hours at work
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Excellent ability to multi-task and coordinate with others
- Completion of secondary school education or equivalent preferred.
