We are seeking a self-motivated Butcher, to prepare standard and specialty cuts of meat and poultry, for sale in retail and wholesale food establishments.

The candidate will also participate in various safety and workplace hygiene activities designed to maintain a clean and safe work environment.

This would be an opportunity for someone in the field to establish their career within a busy and dynamic environment. 

Job Duties:

  • Cut, trim, bone and otherwise prepare custom and/or standard cuts of meat and poultry for sale according to customers' orders
  • Prepare meat for special displays and/or delivery
  • Shape, lace and tie meats and poultry products
  • Manage inventory, keep records of sales and determine amount, product line and freshness of products according to company and customer requirements
  • Adhere to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and food safety standards
  • Ensure food storage conditions are adequate
  • Assist other butchers and meat cutters as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a butcher or helper in food stores or meat processing plants is required.
  • Must have good time management skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
