Position Summary:

The Building and General Maintenance Technician is responsible for the building general maintenance and facilitating the smooth flow of operations within the facility, including studio and work environments ensuring general maintenance, repair work, quality assurance, installations, inspections of systems, cross-functional team collaboration, and health and safety compliance with all performed job duties. The Technician will provide ongoing support to the creative and production team in execution of set designs, building upkeep, general housekeeping, ongoing repairs, inventory control, equipment coordination, and maintenance support.

This is a full-time permanent position which requires strong organizational abilities, interpersonal skills, detail-oriented mindset and someone who is well versed in the technical processes of a studio environment. 

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is driven to achieve results, while maintaining clear lines of communication with management and cross-functional creative teams and can adopt a flexible approach in a dynamic and agile environment. This position requires discipline, prioritization skills, positive attitude, and a desire to operate in a professional supportive manner.

Key Responsibilities:

– Assist Shop Manager with flow of merchandise ensuring quality control of material, maintenance of equipment, inventory of supplies, and ad hoc support on projects and on-going priorities

– Perform routine audits and repairs to ensure functionality of building, facility, and work environments, including responding to escalations and requests from staff

– Make adjustments and minor repairs to equipment and various systems

– Complete inspections of building and work environments to identify areas of non-conformance and perform general maintenance on equipment, structures, and spaces as required to ensure safe work areas

– Perform routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair

– Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment and make minor purchases as required

– Set up and tear down of sets, including props, backdrops, and fragile material

– Ensure studio and surrounding areas are safe, secure, and free from clutter at all times aligned with company housekeeping procedures

– Conduct physical inventory cycle counts as provided by Finance and Production teams

– Maintain studio and office spaces ensuring cleanliness, operational excellence of equipment, and safe work spaces

– Source and partner with third party trade professionals, including mechanics, electricians, and carpenters to perform major repairs ensuring the functionality of facility and workflow of business processes

– Attend to equipment ensuring functionality of material providing maintenance support where required

– Ensure organization of equipment storage, and perform general housekeeping duties as necessary to promote functionality of studio

– Assist with creating paint coves

– Enforce health and safety protocols with in studio environment

Experience and Skills:

– 2+ years in a maintenance technician role with emphasis on facility care

– Ability to utilize hand tools

– Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities simultaneously

– Exceptional attention to detail

– Great team communication and collaboration

– Excellent planning and organizational skills

– Excellent customer support service, interpersonal skills with verbal and written communication

– Ability to set up equipment, including lighting, backdrops, etc

– Ability to lift 30lbs when required

– Ability to stand for long periods of time
