The Role:

Reporting to the Seafood Department Head, the Assistant Seafood Department Head provides hands on supports to the Seafood Department Head in the department’s daily operation and to ensure that it is functioning under good conditions.

 

Language

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years

 

Experience:

  • 2 years or more of experience handling live seafood products
  • 2 years of supervising or managing experience

Specific Tasks

  • Provides hands on support and assistance to the Department Head in the following aspects:

(a) Manage and supervise department daily operation and staff’s working performance

(b) Provide on-the-job training, shadowing, guidance and supervision to department staff

(c) Achieve through teamwork the department goals set by the company
  • Oversee product quality, freshness and ensure FIFO is strictly practiced within the department, if applicable
  • Prepare various seafood products for sales activities, include but not limited to catch, gut, descale, cut, wash, pack and label various seafood products and display them in the display coolers
  • Manage department merchandises and promotion items; responsible to ensure fish tanks are clean & well-kept
  • Handle customers’ complaints, build rapport with our customers by providing good smile, eye contact and attention to them
  • Lead by example by performing all hands on duties required in the Seafood Department
  • Conduct quality control during receiving; manage inventory in both the display and walk-in coolers
  • Possess basic knowledge in controlling profit and loss and interpreting data and market information
