Assistant Farm Manager

Description

Reporting to the Farm Manger, the Assistant Farm Manager will support the day-to-day hands-on operation of the farm including equipment operaton and supervision of orchard and harvest labour.

In this role, you will:

• Provide hands-on assistance with various farming activities including land prep, tree and rootstock planting, fertilization, spraying, irrigation, and harvesting.
• Supervise and develop farm workers (more than 65 workers)
• Assist with maintaining farm machinery, equipment, and buildings.
• Maintain a well-organized, clean, and safe work environment.

Qualifications & Key Skills:

• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment.
• Knowledge of agricultural practices and ability to follow relevant policy and laws.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Strong decision making and problem solving abilities.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
• Past farm experience a necessity
• Must be able to distinguish color

Education:

• A college diploma in agriculture or plant science would be considered an asset.   

Job Details:

– 1 vacancy

– Permanent Full time employment

 – $45,000 t0 $75,000 annually (to be negotiated)

– 40 – 70 hours per week (Days, Evenings, Weekends, Overtime)
