We’re looking for abatement workers to remove hazardous building materials such as asbestos, lead and mould. You’ll be part of a team that safely and professionally completes abatement projects. You will enjoy working with your hands and have a basic understanding of working with carpentry tools and preferably have a construction background. Number of openings 4 Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Experience 0-7 months Security and Safety Drug test; Criminal record check Work Settings Have to handle all outdoor weather conditions. Additionally, should expect to work in a dusty environment. Job Description: • Install and erect containment systems using power tools for various removals • Demolish, remove and dispose of a variety of building products that may be contaminated with mould or asbestos. • Removes asbestos from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other structures, following hazardous waste handling guidelines: Assembles scaffolding and seals off the work area, using plastic sheeting and duct tape. • Sprays chemical solution over asbestos covered surfaces, using a tank with attached hose and nozzle, to soften asbestos. • Cleans work area of loose asbestos, using a vacuum, broom, and dustpan. • Places asbestos in disposal bags and seals bags, using duct tape. • Seals bags, using duct tape and loads bags into a truck. • Clean Company equipment and clean up customer work site. • Comply with prescribed safety procedures and federal laws regulating removal (O.Reg 278/05) and waste disposal methods • Follow safe work practices and report safety issues, Work with a respectful manner always Additional Skills o Previous experience and/or certification in mould and asbestos abatement preferred, or else we will provide training o Asbestos Abatement Type 3 Training is an asset o Physical activity is a must and you have to be clean shaven in order to wear a respirator o Previous experience in interior renovation and reconstruction o Current knowledge of abatement practices including health and safety practices o Valid driver’s license is preferred o Must be able to pass criminal record check o Must provide their own steel toed work boots. o Working at Heights/WHMIS/Ministry of Labour 4 Step Awareness training an asset
