Port Shoreham is a small community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Municipality of the District of Chester. Shoreham village provides personal care to the residents of the region including, restorative care programs and range of motion. Continuing Care Assistant is a critical part of the resident care team who help residents to enjoy life and manage their daily activities.

Job Description:
-Reporting to the Home Support Supervisor, the CCA is responsible for providing service to clients in accordance with the individual care plan
-Provide personal care (e.g. bathing, dressing, grooming)
-Perform light housekeeping duties
-Meal preparation
-Provide respite for families and care givers
-Documentation (e.g. reporting client concerns, progress notes, incident reports)
-Empty bed pans; bathe, dress and groom clients; serve meals, feed or assist in feeding of clients and assist clients with menu selection; weigh, lift, turn, and position clients.
-Take clients’ blood pressure, temperature and pulse; report or record fluid intake and output; observe or monitor clients’ status and document patient care on charts; administer first aid in emergency situations; collect specimens such as urine or feces.
-Make beds and maintain clients’ room
-Complete other tasks as required

Job Requirements:
Job Skills
-Having of Standard First Aid and CPR C is an asset.
-Availability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
-Previous related experience preferred
-Good interpersonal and communication skills
-Able to maintain regular and consistent attendance

Education Requirements
Some secondary education and on job training or a nursing aide or health care aide, college or private institution program or a college nursing program.

Language
English

Wage: $17.85/ hr

Employment Requirement
• Have the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including safe lifting, push, pull and bending with demonstrated use of proper body mechanics
• Maintain confidentiality concerning residents, staff and organizational information
• After work permit approval/arrival in Canada, the applicant must obtain a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and/ or have access to a reliable vehicle.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AS PER CURRENT HEALTHCARE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
Internal applicants will be reviewed first and preference will be given to seniority when skills, abilities, experience and qualifications are equivalent
Offers of employment contingent upon successful applicant providing a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
